Book of the Month!

I am a self confessed book worm so I decided I will try to update my blog monthly on what I am enjoying. Currently I started the book Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. So far I am loving it! I know I am a little late to jump on the band wagon but I did not see the movie so I figured it was high time I pick up the book. (I never watch the movie before I read the book!)

So here is what my very few spare moments consist of...chocolate, coffee, and Eat Pray Love. Have any of you read this book? What was your take?

OOTD for running work errands.

Going from taking care of the boys to running work related errands requires an outfit that is easy to move in. Yet it still needs to be stylish because I do run a fashion related business. This is an example of an outfit I've found works well for days when I am on mommy duty and work duty.

More info is included in the video posted before. What do you think? How do you dress on days you are expected to move quickly and at ease yet look put together?

Working or Staying at Home? The Eternal Question...

I am a working mommy. I spend two days per week as a stylist at a local high end boutique and a few other days running my online women's apparel business. Because of this I feel proud and independent. I am also thankful that I am able to stay incorporated in the world of fashion even as a new mommy. However it is hard. It is a constant balance and at times I long to be a full time housewife and mom. Sometimes I hope that in my rush I am not forgetting to cherish the little moments. My boys will only be young once. Fashion will always be here. I am torn in two different directions. What are your thoughts? Will you be or are you a stay at home mom? Or are you committed to holding a career during motherhood?

Wardrobe Staple -- The LBD

Who doesn’t love a little black dress? It can take you practically anywhere and fashion experts agree it is a wardrobe essential. The 1920s designs of Coca Channel are known for bringing the LBD to the forefront of style. Personally, I love the fact that for as many different personality types there are you can find an LBD to match it. They are a dream to accessorize with, the sky is the limit when it comes to what you pair with it. What does your LBD look like? Is this a wardrobe staple for you as it is for so many women?

Leopard print + red & black = LOVE!

I adore black with a pop of color as it is…throw in some leopard print and I am in total fashion bliss! What do you think? Is this something you would rock?

Can I just say that I am in LOVE with the glamorized hippy chic look Kelly Clarkson sported at the Inaugural Ball? She absolutely stunned in her strapless, sweetheart neck Oscar de la Renta gown. The dress was a gorgeous array of white, yellow and red/orange flowers and green leaves. Go Kelly!

On a side note: Aren't she and her boyfriend adorable? They are so sweet and normal looking.

NYR -- Staying Balanced

I am normally a skeptic when it comes to New Years Resolutions. I simply feel that it doesn’t need to be a New Year to strive for a goal that you have set for yourself. But I have changed my mind and this is the FIRST year I will ever set myself a NYR. My goal is to do a better job of staying balanced in my day to day life. Balance can mean different things to different people so I’ve broken it down into “mini steps”. What can I say? It’s the type A in me. ;)
  • Do yoga daily. I have found that through yoga I am able to de-stress and really center myself. I love the physical flexibility and strength it gives me but even more than that I love what it does for me mentally. Clearing my head and calming me down is no easy task but yoga seems to do the trick.
  • Make time for prayer and meditation. Meditation will fit in nicely with yoga. To help me with my prayer life I have been reading a Bible devotion book nightly. It has helped me have a greater sense of security and it has helped put me to ease before bed.
  • Eating smart. This has nothing to do with a diet or losing weight. By eating smart I mean that I’d like to be sure I am eating the freshest most nutritious foods and that I am really taking the time to enjoy the cooking/eating process with out feeling rushed. I have cut back on the caffeine as well which has been a great thing for my nerves.
What are your goals for the New Year? If you are striving for something similar I’d love to hear from you…we can be NYR buddies. :)

Have a fabulous day!
